RE: The criminal mind (or lack thereof)

I'm with the poster who suggested 'shrink'. He/she is the expert witness who will testify that bad guy wasn't loved by mommy/daddy and resorted to this behavior out of a need for attention (hence the use of own cell phone/home). He is not responsible for his actions, needs some counseling and will be back out on the street ripping off other folks in a couple months. It is not that simple. The bolded part of your post goes to the core of the issue. Even if he turns out to "qualify", that does not mean he will be back on the street. The idea being if he does not know right from wrong, then he is a danger to himself and others. Great, I win and society loses. I'm outta here! :R

RE: home park rules

ChiefB, as the above poster states, each home park has different rules, though there are probably similarities. For instance, ours states we can be in for 14 nights, then must be out for 7. We also have a $1/night electric surcharge. I think (?) we are guaranteed a site, even with short/no reservation. Also, unlimited day use, plus easy access over holidays. Is this the kind of stuff you mean? While it has not happened to us personally, there are horror stories of what happens to the members if the home park goes belly-up/is bought out by others. What happens to you? Do you lose your affiliation with other parks (ROD, C2C, etc.)? I recommend reading a lot here and start writing a list of potential questions. Then, read every single word of your contract with your sales agent present so you can be sure you understand those rights/responsibilities. And lastly, if you still feel confused, don't buy anything. Leave your wallet at home! Good luck.

RE: Question for RV'ers

outdrmike, I appreciate your observations and hope you can see from the varied responses that RVers come in all forms and styles. Hope these responses have helped answer some questions about what everybody's doin' out there. Some are up to no good, and others are just livin' life! :B

RE: Question for RV'ers

I think the OP just got a quick and dirty lesson on what being a fulltimer is. :) Years ago when we were still tent campers I used to wonder the same thing about all these plush DP's with their genny's, TV sat's, etc. Never occurred to me these folks might living FT in there and this was all those chose to own anymore. Traveling through Canada last year we made a specific stop at a CG w/ Wifi that I could only access from the picnic table outside. This guy walking by sees my CA tags, looks at the computer and gives me good-natured ribbing about traveling 3000 miles to 'play' on my computer. I told him I still had to pay bills. He seemed quite interested in FT and I'd like to think I helped educate him on another kind of lifestyle. I'd much prefer folks ask questions and maybe learn a thing or two, than simply assume I am a (fill in the blank) kind of camper! I appreciate the opportunity the OP just gave us FTers to explain. Thanks. :C

RE: Weekly Chuckle: Dave Barry's – Best Advice

Thanks for the chuckle, as I haven't read Dave Barry in awhile. Sure beats reading the front page... :(

RE: WOULD YOU?????

as much as most love being in their campers on weekends and vacations and hate to leave them when returning back to work. if you had the chance right now to just stay in your campers fultime, would you do it? that is of course as long as you don't have 3,4 5 or 6 kids. Dear Mods: I asked why the move to FT because the OP was polling non-FTers about a desire of theirs, not how current FTers felt about their decision to go FT. Kinda like polling folks coming out of an ice cream shop and asking if they like frozen confections. But, maybe I misunderstood the OP... :h

RE: WOULD YOU?????

Curious why this thread was moved to FT. I mean, aren't we already there, living in our trailers or MH? :h

RE: They still do what?!

I think this thread stands a better chance of continuing if everyone will reread the OP's post, which is about corporal punishment in the schools - NOT about the whippings they received at home as children or how they themselves discipline their kids. Perhaps thinking about it from a socio-political standpoint (with references cited if you'd like) and not as emotional, anecdotal, one-up-manship will help keep us on track. Just a thought...

Hey Linda, I'm suspicious. How did you lose 10 lbs. while I gained 15? :M:M:M

Yowzers, the thread's still open... Unbelievable how many folks here are happy to relinquish their parental duties and let strangers dole out spankings. :h

RE: Television reception-Football season

tvman44, apparently you missed the OP's statement that they CANNOT have a dish at the S/B house due to trees. To let it sit idle and use it only for camping would be a big expense, depending on how long/often you camp. Our DirecTV pkg. runs ~$60/mo, so only the OP would know if it's worth it. Other options, especially if you are only out camping on weekends, would be to record games at home (assuming you have cable or something there) and stay away from all media till you get home to watch. LOL! Or, be very selective in choosing CGs w/ cable. Depending on how important football is to you, the greater distance and cost (fuel and cable CGs) might/might not offset your decision. Good luck. I feel your pain. As a rabid NFL fan, I (not my DH!) plan weekend travels accordingly.

RE: NEVER pour old milk into your blackwater tank!

Oh, mama, I can smell it from here! Phew! Kinda combines all the best aspects of a dairy on a really hot day - minus the flies, of course. :E

RE: Full time with second spouse?

Second marriage for both of us - only 9 yrs. though. While RVing wasn't a desire for either of us w/ our former partners (they definitely were NOT interested and think we're nuts now!), DH and I love FT! Since I firmly believe you must be best friends to FT, it's hard for me to imagine getting remarried to someone who is NOT your bf. I mean, really, why bother? :?

RE: Hi Everyone! What's Up?

OutTheDoor, thanks for your good wishes. DH is slowly improving, though he's pretty doped up and useless right now. :B Went through the whole hitching up process and moved this baby a whopping 50 ft. Backed right up and nailed that hitch thingy first time. Hubby says I am a real stud. I better be careful or I just might have inherited this job. :E Oh, and the party of six who reserved the whole row we were in - only two showed up. :M DH says to let it go, that it was good practice for me anyway. True enough. Guess I'll be watching Olympics this weekend and keeping DH's ice pack cold.

RE: Hi Everyone! What's Up?

We're due to move out of this park tomorrow (near Portland). DH throws his back out so we spent the morning in the ER. Park personnel are nice and say we can stay longer, but they have promised our site to others who specifically reserved it last year. So I guess I get a crash course in hitching up the 5er, draining the poopy pipe and making a loop around the park to our new site. If I don't report back within a week, please notify the Coast Guard. LOL!!!
